Catch Up Day
Yesterday, I slept in till well past 1PM. I was exhausted after the ball and woke up feeling pretty much normal for the first time since arriving. I slept with the AC at 27 degrees and took some Theraflu so I'm sure that helped. I also wrote two blog posts, had a massage, and got fitted for a sari blouse and other items I'm having made by a tailor here. Bangladesh is known for its clothing manufacturing and it seems many foreigners come here to have clothes made at a good price. I'm looking forward to wearing the sari, my pants, and blazer!
Today, my goal was to be productive, by any means necessary! So I worked on my career blog where I'll write about tech projects and learnings. I actually deployed it! This was definitely a case of "something" being better than nothing. I know this may not be my most polished work, but it's pretty exciting to finally see a blog on the domain: anotherdevsolution.com. It's been a long time coming. I also submitted recommendations for people I used to work with on LinkedIn. And before all that I exercised for 25 minutes this morning using the Steezy dance app!
By 2:30PM I started reviewing some Udemy tutorials on Machine Learning and started falling asleep. I was outside on the patio enjoying the warm weather, looking at construction workers walking comfortably on top of high rises. But by 4PM, I'd drifted off a few times at the table on the veranda, so I figured I needed to switch it up. So around 5PM I decided to do another 20 min routine from Steezy. Had a good conversation with my aunt after she got home from work and learned a lot about the work she does here! I had my favorite Bangledeshi leftovers for dinner which really remind me of Guyanese food I'd eat at home. This time it was a split pea curry concoction which I had with rice. Definitely comfort food for me!
While there's nothing wrong with having some down time, I think not working a day job since late Sept is starting to get to me. I need to get back on the job market eventually and just want to be prepared by the time I return. Working really does help the day go by quickly and without a plan for each day, time goes so slowly. I also need to exercise more especially since I've been told me cholesterol is getting high! Tomorrow, I'll be running the streets of Dhaka and with the India trip coming up soon, the mundane days will soon be behind us!
