Diwali in Udaipur

Today we started the day with a beautiful breakfast outside under the sun and ended with a beautiful dinner under the stars and fireworks. Because of Diwali, a Hindu holiday celebrating victory of light over darkness, members of the community light fireworks and diyas , (which look like tea lights) the days leading up to the holiday and fireworks several hours on the night of.

After breakfast we toured the castle of the maharanas of Udaipur and took several photos. Around every corner lurked or rather presented another opportunity for a photo!

By the end of the day our group had really bonded! My aunt, her friend and I joined another group of friends who had been traveling for over two weeks already in northern India!  What an amazing journey that must have been. It’s been a great way to end our time in India with old a new friends!
