Party Prep
I decided to catch up today with two posts; here’s the first! Friday was a long day in anticipation of the 248th Marine Ball in Dhaka. But the prep started the night before from final dress fittings to making snacks. My aunt was having several girl friends over on the day of the ball to hang out, do makeup and get dressed together so we needed to make finger foods for that night. So I spent an hour or so frying paratha! It's like frying tortillas except it makes paratha chips instead of tortilla chips.
By the next day, Friday we went to the commissary for some frozen spinach (needed for dip) then went to church in the morning. In a Muslim country, Friday is the holy day so church for Christians is often on Fridays too. The service met in a hotel and was comprised of Christians from around the world living in Bangladesh. For one of the songs in the service, we sung the verses in English, Spanish and Korean. The message was about the 2nd chapter of the book of Job and the beginning of Job's suffering. The book of Job is a tough read, because of the undeserved suffering. But it points to relationship with God being key to making it through. While on this trip, I'm making a point to nurture my relationship with God, so was glad to go to service this morning.
When we got home, my aunt made the spinach dip, while I made a salad. Our first guests arrived around 1:30PM. I really needed to rest again so decided to lay down around 2 until 3:30. As more ladies arrived, we sat talked, drank champagne, did nails and makeup. I learned about what "Just looking like a WOW" means lol.
By 6PM we were all dolled up and ready to head out to the ball!
To be continued ...
