Last Day of the Reunion

Besides Christmas and Thanksgiving how often do you see your extended family? It’s always nice to do things together at those times. But it’s in the in between moments that you really get to know people. Waiting for the bus, planning an excursion, running to catch a bus, cooking a meal, hanging on for dear life on the bus, telling each other when we’re out of the shower, calling Ubers when it’s just not worth it to take the bus, sharing product tips, finding coins for the bus when your cousin only has a card smh 🤦🏾‍♀️… see how many of these involve the bus! LOL But you get the gist, the list goes on.

We’ve learned random facts about one another and had many hilarious laugh out loud moments. 😂  for example my youngest cousin is basically fluent in Spanish. Her skills helped us ten times over every day! And my other cousin was the mom of the group. She kept the house keys and was able to come with cash in a pinch when either of us needed it! I don’t know what my super power was on this trip lol guess I’ll have to ask.

Tonight we went out to dinner to explore the nightlife. We found ourselves in an area of San Jose known as Cali. There we went to a reggae club and I mean they were playing 20 year+ old tunes. It was crazy! A flashback to early 2000s. I danced the whole night. Only downside is the lyrics smh 🤦🏾‍♀️ but some of the best songs of that time were about doing a particular dance move, which gets everyone involved. Those are the best. Who knew Costa Rica loved dancehall like that?! Even found a dance partner who spotted me across the room. He was probably close to my age and remembered all those dances. Well honestly, he probably hangs out at the club all the time and doesn’t have to actually remember. Last time he did Willie bounce, dutty wine, tek way yuhself, jiggy, etc was probably last weekend at the same club. 🤷🏾‍♀️  We left about 12:30 AM to head back for an early morning tomorrow (today).

So even though we are from different eras I’m an older millennial with more of a GenX mindset I guess, one cousin is a millenial, and the other a GenZ we all managed to get along this week.

But one thing I know for sure, whether preparing for a family house party or shoveling dirt, doing a project together gives you a whole new appreciation for a person and their personality. We can tell the strategists, the down to help with whatever’s, the documenters, etc. We all came to work though and really quite literally made a dent in our work this week!

A good time was had by all! So glad they didn’t hate the experience 😅. But I prayed it’d go well and it has. On to the next round of adventures in the morning! ❤️
